Tottenham came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 in a dramatic Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Xavi Simons fired Spurs back into the lead with a curling strike in the 78th minute.
The visitors took the lead through a goal from Adam Lallana in the 52nd minute, but Tottenham levelled just before halftime through a header from Harry Kane.
Key moments
Tottenham dominated possession in the first half, but it was Brighton who broke the deadlock through Lallana’s goal. The visitors’ pressure paid off when the Spurs defence failed to clear a corner, allowing Lallana to tap in from close range.
Tottenham pushed hard for an equaliser, and their pressure finally paid off in the 45th minute when Kane headed in a cross from Pedro Porro.
The second half was a more even contest, with both teams creating chances. Brighton’s Lewis Dunk had a goal ruled out for offside, while Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min had a shot saved by the Brighton goalkeeper.
Reaction
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte praised his team’s spirit and determination in coming from behind to win. ‘We showed great character and resilience to come back from a goal down,’ he said.
Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi was disappointed with his team’s inability to hold onto the lead. ‘We dominated the game for long periods, but we couldn’t capitalize on our chances,’ he said.
